Research projects

·    Impact of plantain-based pasture on milk production and nitrogen excretion of dairy cows and nitrate leaching from pastoral systems, 2019 – 2023, PhD researcher, funded by DairyNZ, Ministry for Primary Industries, PGG Wrightson Seeds, and Fonterra, aiming to improve the use of plantain to save NZD 1 billion from 2031-2040 and reduce 15,000 tonnes of nitrate leaching from New Zealand’s pastoral system.

·    Promoting herbs-fed chicken production to improve income for ethnic minority women in Phong My commune, Phong Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province, 2017-2018, Project leader, funded by Australian Emabassy, studied the technical practice of herb-fed chicken and trasnfered this technology to improve the income for ethnic minority people.

·   Livelihoods need assessment and action plan to improve livelihoods for households in buffer zones of nature reserves in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces, 2017, Field Coordinator, Funded by USAID, aiming to provide baseline information for the project “USAID Green Annamites” and recommend local people's livelihood needs for developing the project’s activities.

·     Reducing poverty and improving the use of forest resources and forest land in the mountainous areas of Thua Thien Hue province, 2010–2013, Project officer/researcher, funded by Interchurch Organisation for Development Cooperation, Netherlands, aming to improve agricultural livelihoods and sustain the use of forest resources and forest land in the mountainous area of North Central Vietnam.

·    Impact of shocks on the vulnerability to poverty: consequences for the development of emerging Southeast Asian economies, 2010-2013, Survey team leader, enumator, data manager, funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany, assessing the impact of shocks on the vulnerability to poverty of local households in Vietnam and Thailand.
