TÓM TẮT
The failures of earth dam occurred due to a variety of causes, including seepage failures accounts for about 35%. Seepage causing problems that can lead to dam failure are classified as follows: i) Piping; (ii) Internal erosion; (iii) Solutioning of soluble rock; (iv) excessive internal pressures and/or saturation; (v) and excessive uplift, heave, or blowout [3]. It can be seen that all seepage effect causing dam problems come from the change in the physical properties of embankment during the operation of the reservoir. The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of permeability on the physical properties of earth dam/embankment, which is the basis for the building research equipment. Research results on the equipment can determine the parameters change by the time, including: cohesion (C), friction angle (φ), density (γ) and permeability coefficient (K). Key words – earth dam, seepage, physical properties, embankment, reservoir.
