 A more detailed insight on diversification and bank performance: Evidence from Vietnam

ABSTRACT
Using the data sample covering up to 11-year period from 2006 to 2016, this study sets out to investigate the impacts of different types of diversifcation on bank performance. Specifically, diversification is considered through different perspectives including income, asset and source of fund diversifications. We find that income and source of fund diversification levels significantly improve the bank profitability and reduce the bank expenses. The impact of asset diversification is consistent with the expectations, but is not strongly proven in this study. Our findings provide better insight on whether banks could reap benefits from implementing diversification strategies.
