 WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUCCESS OF ANENTREPRENEURIAL CAREER DECISION? AN EXPLORATORYSTUDY

This paper explores the factors which entrepreneurs in Da Nang city regarded as contributing to their success. We propose a theory for succes of entrepreneurial career decision based on classic grounded theory covering data of a total of 30 entrepreneurs. The study was conducted based on a semi-structured questions questionnaire. Through in‐depth interviews, participants shared their experiences and the factors they perceived as contributing to their success. The results obtained from 30 interviewees were converted into text data. We used two tools, Voyant Tools and VosViewer, to measure the frequency of key words and phrases appearing in our interviews, thereby dividing them into groups of related words and showing the link between the elements in each words group and the link between the groups together.Our research has identified four groups of factors that determine the success of an entrepreneurial careerdecision from the perspectives of entrepreneurs in Da Nang city. The first group related to theentrepreneurs themself including start-up awareness, accumulated knowledge, jobs, skills and process understanding.., the second group related to customers and demand, the third group is product awareness such as quality, advantages and brand, and the last one is resources such as financial support, family support and cost awareness. These findings added knowledge to the discussion of whether success can sensibly be explained.
