ABSTRACT
This study tries to explore and examine the impact of several important work factors on work-family balance of Vietnamese employees in service industry. The present study also aims to clarify the different perceptions of work-family balance in gender. By examining the effect of working time, work stress, job satisfaction and supervisory support on work-family balance in Vietnam, this study attempts to contribute to the understandings of the work-family balance. Nine hypotheses were established to explore the impact of the independent variables (working time, work stress, job satisfaction and supervisor support) and the moderating effect of gender on the dependent variables (work-family balance). A total of 230 questionnaires were collected via the Internet. The study revealed that there was a positive relationship of job satisfaction and supervisory support on work-family balance and the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between working time and work-family balance. The finding of the present study will encourage further examinations and provide a greater understanding of work-family balance phenomena. It also hopes that the information gleaned from the present study may lend a hand to the policy-making of Vietnam’s organizations and awareness programs related to work-family balance.
