ABSTRACT
River basin data can be basically categorized into two main groups: geometry and hydro-meteorological data. While all of the geometry relevant data have been processed and managed well with the Arc-GIS powerful tool, there is no such a generally official instrument to address the difficulties of hydro-meteorological data processing, administering and sharing. Firstly, there are always differences between observe/measured data format (ODF/MDF) (i.e., in tabular form) (TCVN, 2009) and hydrologic – hydraulic model required data format (RDF) (i.e., in time series or in columnar vector form). Secondly, the rapid increase in the number of hydro-meteorological stations and advances in technology of measurers contribute to the multiplication of hydro-meteorological data; whereas the data storing and searching tools are mostly handwork-based and excel-based cause numerous troubles for the stakeholders and demanders. Several programs are available for data management, but they are watershed-specific (Le et at., 2005; Hoang et al., 2006). These things lead to an extremely urgent demand for developing a new tool for hydro-meteorological data processing, administering, accessing, and sharing in general. The Thymed-pro tool has been developed to address the above difficulties (see Figure 1), and to allow the users to save both time and efforts, as well as to eliminate the likely errors. The Thymed-pro has been written in the C# language with the support of .NET Framework and equipped with the MS SQL Server database that allows it to do a variety of works in hydro-meteorological data processing, filtering, transforming, accessing and administering. The “ribbon” friendly user interface and “mouse” communication make the Thymed-pro extremely visual, vivid and easy to manipulate. Data import and update into the Thymed-pro database are executed via five main algorithms working in turn or simultaneously depending upon different circumstances (Nguyen et al., 2013, under review). In addition, the Thymed-pro has another algorithm to search, filter the data and to find the maximum values in the studied period. Though it is being under development and upgrade, the current version of the Thymed-pro can be widely equipped and utilized for various organizations working in the hydrologic-hydraulic relevant projects or fields inside and outside the country.Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ele6hcc9t5yuzus/SWGIC2013_Nguyen%20et%20al_abstract.pdf?dl=0
