ABSTRACT
Using a means-end chain (MEC) approach, this article proposesa comprehensive and integrative conceptual model ofthe antecedents of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) intention. It examines the effects of website attributes on eWOMintention, a topic that has not been explored in its relation tothese attributes. Hypotheses are tested using partial leastsquares (PLS) modeling of data from 290 online customers inTaiwan. Attitudes toward websites and brand attitudes arefound to mediate the link between website attributes andeWOM intention. The moderating effects of website trustworthinessand gender are found to influence the relationshipbetween website attributes and consumer attitudes. This studycontributes to the knowledge of the effects of website designthat encourage consumers to provide positive eWOM whenpurchasing clothes via a website and provides some practicalsuggestions for online retailers.
