ABSTRACT
Generating synthetic populations of agents that conform to the data available on real populations has recently become a necessity for social modelers, and although several approaches have been proposed in recent works, it still constitutes a significant scientific and methodological challenge because most of them rely on individual data gathered from samples of the population. We will describe in this talk an alternative approach based on the use of population-wide statistical data and a software tool that takes advantage of this approach to generate realistic synthetic populations in agent-based models.
