ABSTRACT
In the current environment where product development projects are carried out by teams of increasingly open, the quality and effectiveness of communications software and dialogue around information technologies become essential issues. Many challenges remain in collaborative activities in engineering, despite the support of commercial software available on this sector. It is now to integrate advanced technologies in computing and networks, but also the humanities and social sciences, particularly cognitive ergonomics and usability of communication to analyze, through for example the theory activity, the relevance of certain tools in relation to the activities of designers.
We present here two cases of collaborative design situations. The first concerns a design team (4 people) gathered for a project review, and use an advanced asynchronous annotation of 3D models, Annot'Action. The second situation is the result of the participation of a group of young researchers (10 people divided into two sub-remote teams) in a project focused on design innovation 24 hours: "24 hours of innovation." From the observation of design activity in these two different situations, we analyze the shortcomings of current tools to support the exchange of information graphics.
