Associate
Professor, Ph.D. Nguyen Van Tuan is now the Dean and the Chairman of Scientific
Board of Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE), The
University of Danang-University of Science and Technology (DUT), He achieved
Master degree and Ph.D. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the
Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 1998 and 2003,
respectively. To successfully defend his PhD thesis, he completed Doctoral
Development Program at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2000.
He wrote over 36 scientific papers that were published in many national and
international journals as well as in IEEE conference proceedings. He also wrote two
textbooks published in the Vietnam Education Publishing and 8 textbooks used in
the University including 2 textbooks written in English for the Advanced
Program.
He
was the chairman of two scientific research projects of the Ministry of
Education and Training (MoET) level and one scientific research project of UDN
level ; member of one national-level scientific research project. He was also
the chairman of project to build Long-Haul Fiber Optic Communication Systems of
seven central and highland provinces in Vietnam; the adviser
for affiliates Goldstar in the city of Da Nang in 2004.
He
became Associate Professor in 2011 and now he is the senior lecturer having over
30-years experience in teaching and doing research. His main research fields
are in Systems and Networks of Fiber Optic Communications, Free Space Optic
Communications, Visible Light Communications, Microwave, Satellite
Communications, New Generation Networks and their applications.
During
the period of activities of teaching and scientific research, he is always
interested in innovation of teaching methods and curriculum. At the same time,
he and his colleagues cooperate with many companies, manufacturers, industries,
universities in order to improve the quality of teaching. Specially, in 2014,
he took part in the International Dean’s course held in Germany, Malaysia and
Indonesia funded by DAAD to enhance ability of education management as well as
develop collaboration in teaching and doing research within partner
Faculties/Departments
In
2010, he participated in Project HEEAP (Higher Engineering Education Alliance
Program) in USA in which the prestigious Universities in Vietnam cooperated
with the University of Arizona (ASU), USA in project funded by the Intel
Corporation and the government of Vietnam to implement innovative curriculum
and teaching methods following ABET standards, for improving the quality of
teaching and training in universities.
In
2008, he joined the “Method of building university curriculum” course coordinated
and co-organized by the University of Hawaii and UDN.
In
2007, he attended the "Assessment of the quality management system"
course trained by the company APAVE Vietnam and South Asian organizations. In
2007, he also attended the "Building learning program for students:
Objective evaluation of teaching and learning activities" by the
University of Queensland, Australia.
In
2005 he get one year-scholarship of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) International Scholar
Exchange Fellowship to do research with professor at Sejong
University, Seoul, Korea on the subject in Electronic and Telecommunication
field.
