TÓM TẮT
Since the neutral axis of a functionally graded (FG) beam does not coincide with the mid-plane, axially applied force makes the beam bend. This paper investigates and presents the bending of FG beams under axial force. The governing equilibrium equations under finite element method are established by using the principle of virtual work. The material properties of the beam vary continuously in the thickness direction according to the power-law distributions. Numerical behaviors, such as deflection, normal stress of a axially forced FG beam are analyzed and discussed. The Influences of different material property distributions and various boundary conditions are also investigated. The results of research show that, variation of material properties has significant influence on the bending of FG beams under axial force.
