ABSTRACT
The middle area of Vietnam has geographic location that the East adjoins the sea, and the West is blocked by the Truong Son Range, so the chloride content in the air is very high. Hence the rate of the corrosion in the steel structures takes place very fast. So far there does not have a full and specific study to assess the practical ability of the structural components in railway bridges localized in the Middle Area of Vietnam due to attacked corrosion. Thence, it is necessary to propose a proper method for repairing, upgrading or replacing these structures in order to ensure the safety, technical and economic conditions in the course of use. Therefore, the subject “Investigation of Railway Bridge Behavior under Corrosion Attack in Middle Area of Vietnam” is urgent. From these survey data, a corrosion analysis model will be proposed based on finite element method (FEM) to evaluate the actual bearing capacity of the bridge under natural corrosion attack and causal analysis, incident affecting the structure of the works for the purpose of proposing effective measures for these works
