This study aims to construct a decision support tool for handling the Taiwan’s National Health Insurance data from the researchers' perspectives. The National Health Research Institute (NHRI) provides data for researchers to conduct health related research by applications. Since the provided insurance data is in unstructured text, it is necessary to transfer those data into a data warehouse or data mart such as SQL Server. However, the data retrieval and synthesis are still very complicated through a number of complex SQL queries to export the final figures and tables. This causes a major problem for doctors, medical and insurance researchers who are not familiar with SQL Server. Therefore, this study proposes the tools to extract and save the data in SQL Server 2008, which facilitates the data synthesis. The tools not only support doctors, medical and insurance researchers to obtain the final analysis for nationwide epidemiology but also help them to make good decisions in building health care strategies.
