ABSTRACT
The Vietnamese National Foreign Language Project (NFLP) 2025 outlines that teacher training is one of the important parts of professional development. This project has breathed life to ICT in ELT and the come-into-being of VietCALL association. As a trainer of ICT skills to teachers of English across Vietnam, the speaker will conduct a reflection on teacher agency and teacher training based on the guidance of community of inquiry and TPACK framework. In this talk, the current issues about ICT training, the opportunities, and the challenges for future implementation will be discussed. Factors that affect the quality of training will be investigated through a systematic literature review followed by meta-synthesis, and through analysis of data collected from logs of a training management system, feedbacks from the teacher trainees during the actual implementation of a training program.
It is expected that the findings will shed light on how to effectively enhance quality of training ICT skills for teachers in Vietnam. The discussions should provide program builders/organizers, educational policy makers, and teacher trainers with an insight into the ICT professional development. It also helps to narrow the gaps between theory and practice of ICT-related professional development in Vietnam, as well as in countries where there are contextual similarities.
