ABSTRACT
Non-contacting proximity sensors are widely promoted for position detection through determining the distance between sensor and object. Besides, the usage of non-contacting inductive proximity sensors for object detections such as finding non-ferrous and ferrous metal tape is the popular technique in mobile robots. Most of the technology uses simple HF- oscillation principle as an inductive proximity sensor (IPS) with a decrease in the quality of the oscillator circuit’select magnetic to find the tape. By applying this technique, the external factors may cause negative effects to system performance. To overcome this situation, we set up a hand measurement with inductive proximity sensors and two tapes, meanwhile main tape and disturbing tape are separated by an obstruction sheet. After measuring, data results are used to analyze the influence of the obstruction sheet thickness and disturbance tape to the noise in received signals. The research is the fundament for further applications, based on inductive proximity sensor for mobile robot that could be more robust against noises and disturbances.
