ABSTRACT
The tensile strength of thin aqueous lms playsan important role in foaming systems. This study experi-mentally measured the lm tension by applying a newmethod to three soap solutions with different glycerol con-tents. It was found that the lm tension was independent ofbubble size. The results indicated that the molecular inter-action within the thin liquid lm has a negative contribu-tion to the lm tension of ca. 3mNm1. The glycerolcontent has an insignicant inuence on the lm tension.This new method can provide unique insights into foamsystems in food, detergency, and chemical processes
