Heavy metal pollution (KLN) in groundwater causes many problems for the environment and human health. This study was conducted to assess the health risks of residents using groundwater in three communes (Hoa Ninh, Hoa Son, and Hoa Nhon) in Hoa Vang district, Danang city. The concentration of two heavy metals (Chromium (Cr) and Copper (Cu)) in 52 groundwater samples were analyzed by atomic and graphite adsorption method (AAS Analytik 700P) and then compared with the
level specified in the Guidelines for drinking-water quality (WHO, 2006). The results showed that the mean concentration of Cr in all
samples exceeded many times compared to the regulations, with the highest concentration reached at 18.92 mg/L. Meanwhile, the
average concentration of Cu in all samples was still at the allowable level in the WHO guidelines (<1.0 mg/L). In addition, the
Hazard quotient (HQ) index of Cr ranged from 0.3 - 106.79 which suggests that people in the study area are facing health risks due to
Cr contamination in groundwater.
