(M = Ge, Mn, Fe) compounds are prepared by arc-melting in Ar atmosphere. The X-ray analysis on powder samples shows that the alloys with M = Mn and Fe have multiphase structure whereas the alloy with M = Ge is in single phase structure. Thermomagnetic curves have been determined for both as-melted alloys and annealed ones, and showed that the Curie temperatures of studied samples are all occurred around room temperature. Among the investigated alloys, giant magnetocaloric effect is found in the sample with M = Ge, namely the magnetocaloric effect change, |ΔS
m
|, reaches a quite high value of 6.23 J/kg.K. Note that this value is obtained with a moderately low magnetic field variation of ΔH =1.35 T.
