TÓM TẮT
The undergraduate program in Oriental Studies provides students with knowledge of social sciences and humanities with a focus on Oriental Studies with different minors namely Northeast Asian Studies; Southeast and South Asian Studies, etc. The employment of graduates can be very diverse in terms of fields and positions, i.e. staff in government agencies, foreign affairs units, research institutes, press agencies, foreign embassies in Viet Nam, international organizations, travel companies, private and foreign enterprises in Viet Nam, international organizations in Viet Nam, and teachers at schools as well. The students’ competency outcomes reflect quality of the university’s training process, hence, universities have been paying special attention to training qualified human resources in terms of competitiveness and capacity to participate in international labor markets. In this study, we assessed the competency outcomes of graduates majoring in Oriental Studies in Viet Nam based on their selfassessment, lecturer's evaluation, and employer's evaluation. The research findings are the basis for determining impacts of the competency outcome assessment on the improvement and development of the Oriental Studies undergraduate training program; thereby recommending solutions for the educational institution to adjust the training program in accordance with the labor needs.
