Improving the efficiency of medical treatment process has become a critical issue because of the heterogeneity of involved resources, the multiplicity of used standards, and the specificity of every patient. This paper focuses on the patient treatment processes, in case of requiring prosthesis implantation. Such process involves many stakeholders from medical and engineering domains: medical doctor, radiologist, prosthesis designer, producer, surgeon, etc. This heterogeneity implies several problems concerning data and knowledge sharing along the treatment process. As an answer, the research discusses some main advantages of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) approach and how this approach can contribute to solve these problems. As a result, a proposal of conceptual approach is proposed in this research.
