ABSTRACT |
The products created during
the hydration of the minerals composition in the binder of the concrete
are very important factors affecting the durability of the concrete.
This paper shows the quantification of the content of portlandite, the
factor which is directly related to the degree of hydration of cement.
In addition, the determination of calcium carbonate is a way to
determine the extent of corrosion of concrete carbonation. The method of
experimental study of thermogravimetric analysis is applied to this
study. The results obtained show the relevance of the method applied to
the physicochemical nature of the hydration process of cement.
Portlandite increased after 3 hours from the moment the cement reacts
with water for up to 12 hours and after this period its formation rate
decreases.
Key words: hydration; concrete; cement; portlandite; carbonation; thermogravimetric analysis
