ABSTRACT
This paper compares several well-known classification and regression techniques for early pre-diction of dispute propensity in the initial phase of public-private partnership projects.The clas-sification and regression-based models include classification and regression tree (CART), ex-haustive chi-squared automation interaction detection (Exhaustive CHAID), quick, unbiased and efficient statistical tree (QUEST), logistic regression (LR) and C5.0.Experimental compar-isons indicate that CART and C5.0 model achieves better cross-fold prediction accuracy com-pared to other classification and regression techniques. The forecasting results provide the pro-active-warning and decision-support information needed to manage potential disputes.
