ABSTRACT
Concrete filled steel tube column (CFST) combinedwith reinforced concrete (RC) flat slab provides potentialstructural solution to replace the traditional structures inhigh-rise buildings. The CFST column – RC slab connection isthe key factor for this structure type to work effectively. This paperproposes an improved structure for connection of concrete filledsteel tube column and reinforced concrete flat slabs using steelplate shear-head. The experiments of two large-sized specimensare performed to assess the capacity and reliability of the proposedconnection. Numerical simulation using Abaqus is alsoperformed to validate the test results. Based on experimental andnumerical simulation results, an analytical prediction model toestimate the punching shear capacity of the flat slab is presented.
