ABSTRACT
In this paper, we present a new joint strategy, addressing multiple non-identical components deteriorating systems with complex structure, in which both predictive maintenance and spare parts provisioning operations are studied and optimized jointly so that the overall cost of the whole system is minimum. The proposed joint strategy takes into account prognostic condition index, structural importance measure, positive and negative economic dependencies as well as system structure in maintenance and inventory decision-making. The grouping approach of preventive maintenance activities is indirect by considering the predictive reliability/RUL of each component at periodic inspection times. At inspection time, a decision of preventive remplacement and spare part ordering placed for a given component is respectively based on its both predictive reliability and structural importance measure. Additionally, in order to reduce maintenance set-up costs, opportuniste maintenance decision rules are also proposed at times beyond inspection ones after the system failure occurs. The evaluation and optimization of the proposed joint strategy performance are performed through a cost mathematic model by using simulation techniques. A numerical study of a $7$-component automation system is finally presented to illustrate the use and the advantages of the proposed strategy. Indeed, this strategy shows the flexibility, the efficiency and the ease in maintenance and inventory decision-making for complex structure systems.
