ABSTRACT
Vietnam has encountered difficulties when applying Community GIS. To assess rural people’s ability in sharing geographical information on the Internet (WebGIS), we conducted the survey on the Map literacy skills and Spatial cognition of the local people in 03 communes, including Son Vien, Binh Quy, Binh Lanh (Quang Nam Province). We want to discover how they apply their geographical knowledge and skill to dealing with their administrative tasks in the commune, how they familiarize themselves with the terrain as well as local environmental issues. For the second subject including the teaching staff and students at Tran Quy Cap and Hoang Hoa Tham secondary schools, we survey the differentiation in geographical knowledge and space consciousness among the students in grades 6, 7, 8.
