Abstract - The paper presents a proposal for research into digital literacy and foreign language learning. The proposal is initiated by the three movements that affect English language education worldwide, including the growing need of using English as a global language, the integration of technology into education, and the language teaching pedagogical reform. Digital resources are now playing a significant role in education in general and English language education in particular. However, little is known, and therefore under-explored, about the importance of digital literacy in second language learning. Using connectivism as a novel theory of learning, the project aims to investigate a correlation of digital literacy and second language proficiency.
